(II) MERCHANT SHIPPING (LOAD LINE) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS
2013
- This circular informs the shipping community on the entering into force of
the Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) (Amendment) Regulations 2013 and
Merchant Shipping (Load Line) (Amendment) Regulations 2013.
- The Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) of the International Maritime
Organisation (IMO) had, on 24 May 2012, adopted amendments to Chapter II-1,
III, V, VI, VII and XI-1 of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea
1974 (SOLAS 74), by Resolution MSC.325(90).
- The MSC had also adopted amendments to Annex II of the International
Convention on Load Lines, 1966, as modified by the Protocol of 1988 (LL 88) by
Resolution MSC.329(90).
- Shipping Circular No. 5 of 2013 provides further information on both
Resolutions.
- The Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) (Amendment) Regulations
2013, and Merchant Shipping (Load Line) (Amendment) Regulations 2013 which
gives effect to the Resolutions, will enter into force on 1 January 2014.
