PREVENTION OF POLLUTION OF THE SEA (AIR) (AMENDMENT)
REGULATIONS 2015
- This circular informs the shipping community on the entering into force of the
Prevention of Pollution of the Sea (Air) (Amendment) Regulations 2015.
- The Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) of the International
Maritime Organisation (IMO) had, on 4 April 2014, adopted amendments to Annex VI
of MARPOL 73/78 by resolution MEPC.251(66). The amendments extended the
application of the EEDI requirements to more ship types and also determined the
effective implementation date of the Tier III NOx emission standard.
- Shipping Circular No. 14 of 2014 provides further information on the
resolution.
- The Prevention of Pollution of the Sea (Air) (Amendment) Regulations 2015,
which give effect to the resolution, will enter into force on 1 September 2015.
